Amazon Prime Video is finally available on Apple TV.
Apple announced this would happen back in June, saying that the app would arrive “later this year.” The company kept its promise, but it was quite a long wait.
Now, you can watch Amazon Prime Video on your Apple TV by simply downloading the new app. Before today, customers had to download the iOS app on iTunes and stream from their iPhone or iPad then send the signal to the Apple TV using Airplay. The new app finally puts an end to this silly workaround and makes it easier for everyone to watch Prime videos on their Apple TVs. The app works with third generation Apple TVs or newer.
9to5Mac points out that the app might not be visible to all users in Apple TV Search, so the best way to find it is to search for “Amazon” on the tvOS App Store.
The iOS app, which was updated to version 5.0 Wednesday, now supports iPhone X and Universal Search.
Amazon Prime Video allows subscribers to watch movies and TV shows, including The Grand Tour, The Man in the High Castle, and Suits. It’s available for $99 per year or $8.99 per month after a 30-day free trial.
Though Amazon and Apple now appear to be playing nice, it’s worth pointing out that Amazon stopped selling the Apple TV in its store back in 2015, precisely due to disagreements over Amazon’s iOS app.
